DESIGN PROCESS

At Landscape Design West, we follow a carefully crafted process for landscape design in Tucson that combines creativity, client collaboration, and attention to detail. From the initial consultation to the final design presentations, we guide you through each step, ensuring that your vision is translated into a remarkable outdoor living space.

Initial Consultation

By connecting with our clients in a lively discussion of discovery, we endeavor to create designs that will encourage them to connect with their outdoor space in a more profound way. Our approach is to provide our clients with a breathtakingly beautiful and sustainable backyard design in Arizona that reflects their own unique style. We balance the individual personalities and interests of our clients with the analysis of the site and environmental, cultural, and historical influences. This process enables us to achieve distinctive outdoor living spaces that impart exceptional style and sense of place for our client in the arid desert. After a thorough discussion, a determination of design costs is given to the client based on hours expected to create a plan for the particular landscape.
Once a design estimate fee and time frame for design completion has been agreed upon with the client, a signed contract and deposit of half the design fees is expected. At this point the project commences.

Design Contract Details

Assessment and Design Phase

All landscape design work is customized for each client project. Concepts for landscape design in Tucson are created based upon the client values and interests. A landscape design is then created in CAD based upon site analysis and cultural, historical, and environmental influences. Design elements such as circulation, patios, fire features, pool and water features, outdoor kitchens, and plant material emerge from this amalgamation. One or more design layouts are created, and the next step is to move into the preliminary design presentations.
The preliminary presentations are the initial unveiling of the plan. In many instances, more than one design layout is created for the client. In any case, a detailed conversation results in a unique synergy between client and designer, resulting in the creation of a distinctive outdoor living space that imparts an exceptional style and sense of place for the client. The designer solidifies the vision for the plan. At this point the plan is submitted to a recommended contractor and a cost estimate for installation is generated. Based on pricing, adjustments may be made to the plan and the final design is agreed upon.

Preliminary Presentations

Final Presentations

This is the grand finale where the landscape plan is presented in color on paper and given to the client. Final payment is made at this time. The installation may now be scheduled into the contractor’s construction calendar.
Installation consultation services by the designer are strongly recommended to ensure the integrity of the design intent. Site meetings are scheduled with the designer, and hardscape is marked and reviewed with client prior to installation. Plants are hand-set and adjusted in situ. An hourly rate may be charged, depending on the installation arrangements.
